LawToolBox Teams App wins Best SharePoint Solution

LawToolBox Teams App wins “Best SharePoint Solution!” A Microsoft Productivity Contest Congratulations to the entire LawToolBox team for winning BEST SHAREPOINT SOLUTION (see more) in the Microsoft Hack Productivity contest (more)! Our Teams App transforms a generalized collaboration product into a vertical solution specific to the needs of legal professionals Our enterprise-ready app uses Microsoft Graph API to leverage the native extensibility of the Microsoft Teams platform to surface a powerful tool for litigators, law firms, and corporate legal departments to create matters, view reports, calculate deadlines, and sync with Outlook. The intuitive combination of a BOT and TAB provides easy and powerful access to upcoming deadlines across all matters the user is working on. Users can jump back and forth from quick insights in the bot to more robust tools in the teams tab. Our Teams BOT gives users a bird’s eye view of their deadlines and matters: For example, users can retrieve important Microsoft Delve insights on team members they work with.  Users can also retrieve valuable statistics on the average length of time it takes to litigate a matter, or prosecute a motion, by venue. Another important function is that users can retrieve matter deadlines and filter by search terms, calculate and edit deadlines, then add matter deadlines to Outlook calendars instantaneously. When users want more robust deadline management tools they open the LawToolBox TAB in Teams, from which they can access existing matters or create new matters. When a new matter is set up, the user assigns the applicable deadline calculator, and then LawToolBox uses the Microsoft Groups to automatically create a matter-specific document folder,...

LawToolBox Launches Deadline App for Microsoft Teams

By Robert Ambrogi on July 17, 2018 Legal professionals can now calculate and manage court deadlines from within Microsoft Teams, Microsoft’s workplace collaboration software, with the release this week by court deadline calculator LawToolBox of its Deadline App for Microsoft Teams. This new app for Teams builds on the functionality of the company’s app LawToolBox365 Office for Legal, which is an Outlook add-in that integrates with Office 365 to enable legal professionals to manage court deadlines entirely from within Outlook. With the teams app, users can jump back and forth between Teams and Outlook to manage the same matters. Jack Grow, president of LawToolBox, told me last week that Teams is becoming a popular collaboration tool at larger law firms. Adoption is likely to increase even more following Microsoft’s announcement last week that it now offers a free version of Teams for organizations of up to 300 people. The Teams app is identical to the Outlook app in its functionality. Members of a team can work in either Outlook or Teams, based on their own preferred workflows. Among the tasks that users can perform within Teams: Calculate litigation and administrative deadlines based on applicable rules. Add, update and remove case-specific deadlines. Update team member Outlook calendars as deadlines and users change. View, email and share deadlines for a matter, user, team or firm-wide. Filter by recent matters, user matters, firm matters, or matter name. View analytics showing average length of matters and motions. Use Microsoft Power BI to analyze relationships with co-workers. Search files in Microsoft SharePoint using key words and phrases. Read the full article...

Hey Legal Tech Companies … Take a Moment Out of Your Busy Schedule to Set Up an “Hour of Code” Program at a Local School!

This week is “Computer Science Education Week” and is being celebrated around the world: Almost 200 governments, school districts, and nonprofits pledge to expand CS for millions of students, globally.  Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Hawaii, Indiana, Montana, North Dakota, and Pennsylvania, all announced plans to expand CS in schools, joined by 76 U.S. school districts and 80 nonprofits. Internationally, 20 nonprofits and entire countries pledged to expand CS programs for 20,000 teachers and over 2 million students. See, The 5th Hour of Code is Here (Medium). Representatives from LawToolBox, Microsoft Crayon teamed up with IAMCP Women In Technology to help celebrate “Computer Science Education Week” by sponsoring an #HourOfCode” program at one of our local schools, Southmoor Elementary in Denver, Colorado.  See, https://hourofcode.com/us/learn.  “Hour of Code” is a federal initiative started under the Obama Administration to encourage and promote an understanding and appreciation for building technology instead of just using it, and to encourage students to learn how to code.  See,  Obama video. It’s EASY to organize your own “Hour of Code”!  See, https://hourofcode.com/us/how-to.  The idea first was first suggested by Jonathon Friebert from the Microsoft Voices for Innovation (twitter: @vfiorg), so we took the idea and raised it at a meeting of the local chapter of @WIT_Denver (Women in Technology), which was just recently launched by Lesly Kenney from Crayon (twitter: @LeslyKenney), Stephanie Martin from Microsoft (twitter: @MeetStepMa), and our own Carol Lynn Grow from LawToolBox (twitter: @CarolLynnGrow).  Once a few highly motivated people decided to take action everything came together very quickly! At first the idea was to limit the #HourOfCode to a single classroom, given our...
