Our venue-specific deadline management tools are built by attorneys, reviewed by experts, and feedback from clients is incorporated back into the product. Because deadlines reside and are managed in a centralized location (the internet) deadline calculators can be updated real-time to coincide with rule changes and amendments. These features make LawToolBox a dynamic and powerful tool to manage deadlines and explore ambiguities in the rules and rule changes.
In addition to downloading deadline charts, and synchronization of deadlines into calendar software (such as Outlook, Time Matters, Amicus, and GroupWise), our email reminders are a third method to remind users of deadlines. This redundancy provides yet another mechanism to protect our clients from malpractice. Email reminders have valuable practice tips (drafted by in-house attorneys, experts, and incorporating user feedback). First drafts of practice forms that have been automatically assembled and pre-populated with caption and signature block information are attached to the email reminders.
Users input case specific info during case set up (plaintiff name, defendant name, case no., etc.). Thereafter, users can modify info submitted to the forms template (for example, when a case number is assigned, or a new party enters an appearance). This information is used to auto assemble a first draft of pleadings from a forms library
containing hundreds of practice forms.
Attorneys, co-counsel and clients can easily “get on the same page” using LawToolBox.
Deadline reports can be generated for any time frame (day, week, month), and by firm, practice group, and/or by user.
LawToolBox addresses 37% of the causes of legal malpractice claims against law firms, including: failure to calendar (5.19%), procrastination (9.43%), failure to file/react to filing (4.35%), failure to know/properly apply the law (10.98%), failure to know the deadline (7.09%).
Through the Integrated Deadlines Software Add-On (developed by Eaglepro Software), when a user inputs a trial date (for example) the deadlines running off that trigger date can be automatically inserted into the Outlook for each user to whom the case is shared (applying the individual reminder preference for each user). As users calculate new deadlines for a case on LawToolBox, deadlines are synchronized to the appropriate user’s Outlook/Handheld in the format each user has selected (e.g., Outlook Calendar All Day Events on Day 0, 5 and/or 14, with or without pop-ups, and/or as Tasks etc). Sync software does not need to be installed directly onto Exchange Server, and instaed utilizes Exchange Delegate Rights to synchronize deadlines to potentially hundreds of users’ Outlooks from one Outlook account. When users update deadlines (to reflect orders), rules are changed, or users close a matter, deadlines are automatically synchronized to each user’s Outlook.
Firms may opt to synchronize our rule-based court deadlines into Time Matters Events and/or To Do’s (linked to the client and matter). When users update deadlines (to reflect orders), rules are changed, or users close a matter, Time Matters is updated without any user intervention. If you start a free trial, our software will also automatically send an email reminder for each deadline.
And for firms using Amicus, PCLaw or other calendaring software that sync with Outlook, these firms can see their deadlines in both Outlook and the case management software that Outlook syncs with. Law firms using Amicus use their Amicus Short File name as their Nickname in LawToolBox and all the deadlines automatically appear in the Amicus File for each matter.

Deadlines have always been the Achilles heel of litigation, accounting for almost half of all malpractice claims brought against law firms. LawToolBox helps to turn this liability into an asset, creating market stickiness for case management systems like Time Matters.
